Reinforcement Rebar Coupler & Steel Coupler Supplier

In recent years, the need for a more efficient splicing system is becoming more apparent as a result of the increased construction complexities and design requirements. The use of reinforcement rebar couplers can simplify the design and construction of reinforced concrete and reduce the amount of reinforcement required.

Advantages of rebar couplers overlapped joints:

• Congestion of rebars with lapped joints, affecting the integrity of the structure. This can be avoided by using couplers.
• With the decreasing size of concrete sections, floor spaces are maximized thus increase the value of the building especially in prime development areas.
• The transfer of load with lapped joints is entirely dependent upon the bonding of the surrounding concrete. Degradation of concrete could affect the performance of the joint.
• With the use of couplers to connect starter bars, damages to the formwork can be avoided.
• Material and cost savings as less steel is used.
• Greener and ‘lighter’ building.

Moment JoinTec Coupler

The Moment JoinTec (JT) coupler ensures full performance splicing joint with its proof stressed bar ends. The extended long thread provides swift installation simply by turning the coupler instead of the bar itself.

While lap splicing depends largely on the bond between concrete and steel to transfer load, Moment JoinTec coupler with its unique parallel – thread, assures positive alignment locking connection thus providing a load path of continuity and structural integrity. The Moment JoinTec coupler behaves as a continuous length reinforcement bar by promoting full strength in tension, compression and stress reversal situations.

Stringent compliance with current concrete design standards. The use of Moment JoinTec coupler eliminates tedious calculations to determine the proper lap lengths. Moment JoinTec coupler also reduces potential design errors while eliminating wastage and unnecessary rebar cost up to 40%. Apart from that, it also greatly reduces congestions thus maintaining healthy balanced steel to concrete ratio. This is nearly impossible with lap splicing because of the additional rebar in the lap zone.

Drawing showing the Moment JoinTec coupler. A straight parallel thread system to provide an absolute barbreak system where the rebar remains the weakest point.

The thread on the end of the rebar can be created as Type A, B or C.
Type A has a single length thread on each of the bars to be coupled. This is ideal for starter bars or short lengths of straight bars where rotation of the second bar is possible.

Type B has a double thread on one of the bars to be coupled. This facilitates the installation of the system by allowing a coupler to be screwed fully onto one of the bars. When the second bar is ready for coupling, the coupler can now be rotated off one bar and onto the other. However, to ensure a tight connection, an additional part turn will be necessary. Therefore, this system is ideal for longer, straight, large diameter bars being installed on site.

Type C has an extended thread on one of the bars to accommodate a coupler and a lock nut. The lock nut is there to eliminate the need for a part turn of the bar. It is ideal for L Bars and prefabricated bar cages where the rotation of a bar is impossible.

Moment Terminator Coupler

The Moment Terminator coupler assembly is a simple quick solution to eliminate the problems of congestion and placement in heavily reinforced compact concrete structural members in the Anchorage zones, posed by Hooked rebar embedment lengths.

Designed to EN 1992-4 criteria based on Shear Cone Theory. The Moment Terminator coupler assembly is recommended for use at the beam to column anchorage and in the column at roof connection as an enlarged coupling secured to the end of a length of reinforcing bar thereby creating an anchorage within the concrete.

Developed full tension and exceeds 125% specified characteristics strength Fy of G460 (BS4449 : 2005 + A2 : 200.9) reinforcement bar.

Moment Weldable Coupler

Effective and safe solution for connecting reinforcement rebars to structural steel elements, the MOMENT Weldable coupler enables a connection between steel and concrete when the structure is composite in nature.

Moment Weldable coupler is designed for connecting reinforcing bar to structural steel members such as plates, piles, beams, columns, etc. The coupler is normally arc welded to the structural steel in a fabricating yard. The load conditions at the connection must be considered and determined by the designer along with the design of the weld, the selection of electrode, and other relevant choices to be used, which must be matched to the properties of the plate and tube, and to the site conditions. Normally coupler is arc welded to the structural steel in a fabricating yard.

Moment RT Coupler

The Moment RT coupler is an alternative threading technology where the thread is rolled as opposed to being cut. It can provide exceptional performance in high cycle elastic fatigue applications, whilst maintaining values in excess of the design strengths of the bar.

The Moment RT system, uses the RT coupler and a rolled parallel thread. It is a full strength system, capable of exceeding the nominal ultimate characteristic strength of the bar.

MOMENT Grout Coupler

Moment Half Grout Coupler

Specifically made for precast concrete connections, the Moment Half Grout coupler system combines the benefits of the JoinTec threaded system, with the flexibility and tolerance of a grout system.

When used together with Moment’s proprietary 100MPa grout, the coupler system is a bar break technology and is capable of carrying very high bar loads. On one end the coupler receives threaded rebar, whereas the opposite end provides the flexibility of a grout system. Consist of a one-piece design, the coupler is capable of carrying very high loads.

Qualitative threading services will be provided for a hassle-free application by the contractor.

Moment Full Grout Coupler

Complementing the Half Grout coupler, the Full Grout coupler can be used either for precast or insitu connections where additional tolerance is needed and the reinforcing bars cannot be threaded or prepared.

Ancon MBT Coupler

The Ancon MBT range of couplers provides a cost effective method of joining reinforcing bars, particularly when the fixed bar is already in place and there is insufficient space for a hydraulic swaging press. They are easy to install and achieve failure loads higher than 108% of the characteristic yield strength of grade 500 reinforcing bar. Neither bar end preparation to form threads, nor bar rotation required. Ancon MBT couplers can also be used to join imperial or metric plain round or deformed reinforcing bars, making it ideal for alteration or refurbishment projects.

The bar ends are supported within the coupler by patented reversed teeth inner wall, and as the lockshear bolts are tightened, the conical ends embed themselves into the bar. As this happens the reversed teeth bite into the bar. The lockshear bolts of couplers up to and including the 20mm bar can be tightened using a wrench. For larger couplers, a nut runner is recommended. In all cases, heavy-duty sockets should be used.

When the pre-determined tightening torque for the bolts is reached, the heads shear off leaving the top of the installed bolt slightly proud of the coupler. This provides an instant visual check of correct installation.
